My apologies go to Nicki Budd of Budd's Florist

by Lynn 5. September 2010 06:31

I was at a wedding fair today and met Nicki Budd who runs her own floral business called 'Budd's Florist', flowers by design

I remembered that Nicki exhibited at our own wedding fayre which I organised at Fallowfields Country House Hotel in April.

She has some beautiful floral arrangements and some which are very different.

I asked if she had enquiries from our wedding fayre and she told me that we had left her and her contact details out of our wedding blog.

I must apologise to her for this and I will now rectify this by posting her contact details.

Louise and Tim's wedding - Saturday 28th August 2010.

by Lynn 1. September 2010 18:56

The military came to Fallowfields Country House Hotel for the wedding of Louise and Tim on Saturday 28th August 2010.

Louise and Tim chose a church wedding in Faringdon before arriving at Fallowfields in a vintage car.

The swords were raised for their entry into Fallowfields with two young guests joining in with their wooden swords.

Some great photos were taken by 'Beder Photography' and I hope to put them on the blog, very soon.

Louise and Tim invited 100 guests to Fallowfields Country House Hotel for their reception. The restaurant and marquee looked stunning with beautiful flowers supplied by 'Ann Laing'.

A touch of the military theme continued throughout the day with Tim cutting the cake with a sword and the Toast being performed with decanted Port, a military tradition.

Louise looked stunning in a beautiful wedding dress and Tim looked most dashing in his uniform.

Louise and Tim will be leaving England for another country in the near future, we all wish them the very best of luck.

Laura & Marco's Wedding - Friday 27th August 2010

by Lynn 30. August 2010 16:48

Laura and Marco were married at St Edmunds Church in Abingdon before bringing 70 guests to Fallowfields Country House Hotel for their reception.

They looked so happy as they arrived at Fallowfields in a wonderful Bentley supplied by Platinum Cars.

Laura looked lovely in her wedding dress and Marco looked great in his wedding attire.

Falconry was supplied by James Channon, our resident falconer to entertain their guests when they arrived and again in the evening after the meal.

The menu Laura and Marco chose looked delicious and many guests commented how good it tasted.

Just before their evening entertainment, Laura and Marco decided to let off 70 balloons, each tied with good wishes from their guests. These were supplied by 'The balloon Lady'.

They are now enjoying a cruise after their celebrations.

Comments from a sporting couple.

by Lynn 20. August 2010 03:29

Paula and Ben who are very involved with sport in Oxfordshire were married in Steventon on Saturday 14th August. After the church ceremony, they invited sixty guests to their wedding reception at Fallowfields Country House Hotel. Unfortunately, the weather was not kind to them, with heavy rain, thunder and lightening. Paula and Ben were so positive that the weather would not spoil their wedding celebrations.

Paula phoned a couple of days later and said 'What a wonderful day' they had. What a great couple! The restaurant staff passed very good comments to me about the band Paula & Ben had booked for their evening entertainment. For anyone interested, they are called Suede Alien.

Dear Lynn,

Our wedding on Saturday 14th August.

Thank you so much to Fallowfields for such a smoothly run reception. James met us at the door, Rob was great serving as were the other waitresses. The extra Pimms went down extremely well too, as did the Falconry.
It was commented on by quite a few guests that the waiting staff were exceptional - polite & efficient so thank you and please pass this on.
We enjoyed the food as did the others, and Rebekah who cannot eat dairy was extremely impressed with the food, especially pudding!
The room was set out so smartly we thought it looked great, we really were so pleased. Everyone was relaxed and happy.
The evening food was very appreciated please say thank you to the kind person who put some evening food in our room later on - such a nice thought as i was hungry by then! Some tea was served at 1am in the morning and the cake brought out to some eager guests, again thank you so much for this.
My dad particularly liked the marquee as it meant he could sit and enjoy the music and dancing slightly more quietly but still absorb the atmosphere.
The band were excellent and enjoyed coaxing us to sing with them. I hope you can recommend them in the future. They said thank you so very much for the hospitality you showed them when they arrived.
We really enjoyed every minute of the day, it did rain but didnt affect us, we seemed to be able to dodge it. A rainbow came out and i hope you can see it in one of the pictures, as well as Fallowfields in the background et.

When we get photos (from Mario Mage) we will pass these on too.

Many thanks
Regards
Paula

The weather did not spoil a fabulous day - Comments

by Lynn 16. August 2010 07:19

Dear Mr Lloyd and Staff,

I am writing to thank you and all your staff for working so hard and so successfully in making such a perfect day on 7th August for the celebration of my daughter Celia's wedding to Miles Tomkins at Fallowfields Country House Hotel.

Celia's father and I have received a stream of compliments on how spectacular the setting, the food and the whole day was.  We are very aware that the efforts of your team made the whole weekend so enjoyable for both our family and Miles's relations and all our friends. Please convey out heartfelt thanks to everyone involved.

I have to say that when Celia announced that she wanted to hold her wedding in Oxford, rather than here in Devon, I was a touch disappointed, but in retrospect it was the best idea for the event.  To have your staff taking the strain of overseeing all the details made it so much more enjoyable for all of us. Thank you once again.

Yours sincerely, Shirley Williams.

About the author

Introducing Lynn Trinder, Wedding & Event Manager at family run Fallowfields Country House Hotel. Lynn's role is to ensure that your wedding is unique. It is the most important day of your life, and we are ready to help you make the most if it.

"I have enjoyed working for Anthony and Peta Lloyd, the owners of Fallowfields since 1997. From 2000 my role has exclusively been weddings. Helping Brides and their families to create a really special day is a joy. With over 50 weddings a year, my experience will really help ease the pressure for you. As a Mother of a Bride myself, I also bring a unique perspective to the table. Most venues in Oxfordshire are known to me. To my mind Fallowfields is the greatest venue for weddings small or large.

The challenge of organising a really good wedding is the highlight of this job;every one is very special and I love to take the time and trouble to make them as personal as possible for each couple.

The team spirit at Fallowfields is second to none; many of the staff [like me] have worked here for years. Flexibility is our watchword and whatever you need, we will move heaven and earth to get it done wherever possible; from your own favourite dish to arriving on an elephant, we will do it if it is humanly possible [and legal].

I must mention the food - it is fabulous. Anthony's beloved farm provides vegetables, fruit and meat for the table. Rare breed livestock, sustainably produced passionately delivering to you great flavours".
