Announcing the Fallowfields 4th Annual Wedding Fayre Sunday April 18th 1pm – 5pm.

by |Lynn Trinder 31. March 2010 22:04

These have been highly successful well attended events in the past, attracting really high quality suppliers, many of whom we have dealt with for years.

I now have a list of suppliers that will be exhibiting, please see our website for details.

Part of the restaurant will be set up as for a wedding. This will give you a chance to see for yourelves how it will look and may give you some ideas on flowers, colour etc. for your wedding. Please note the chandeliers have been replaced with spot mood lighting.

Fallowfields Country House Hotel set up as a civil ceremony venue - we believe, one of Oxfordshire's best

Now, elegantly set up for the wedding breakfast. Oxfordshire had many venues, but our food is very hard to beat

It will also give you a chance to have a look at the bedrooms, which are all very different, as well as the rest of the hotel and lovely grounds. This one is the lovely Woolstone room. All our rooms are named after Oxfordshire villages.

A glorious room with a view to the Oxfordshire Ridgeway.

 Our Uffington four poster

Four posters are favourite for weddings

James Channon, the Fallowfields Falconer will be displaying some of his raptors [falcons hawks and owls] . It will be a good opportunity to chat with him and maybe help you to decide if you would like a display at your wedding.

Our owls provide great entertainment during your wedding

Sarah from ‘Ribbons and Bows’ will be exhibiting chair covers she has tailor made to fit our chairs, and will also have a selection of coloured sashes for you to see.

This along with Bridal Wear, Florists, Photographers, Hair & Make-up, Stationary, Cakes, Jewellery, Wedding Cars, should give you plenty of information as well as being an enjoyable day.
The Bar and afternoon Tea will be available for those that may feel the need for some sustenance!

Please email me now lynn@fallowfields.com if you would like any other information regarding the Wedding Fayre, suppliers or enquiries about having Fallowfields as a possible venue for your wedding.

Panic over - we find a natural spring under the hotel's car park

by |Lynn Trinder 28. March 2010 22:10

Car parking is an often forgotten and yet very important part of your day. The last thing you want is your guests to be arriving having been frustrated by the venue's car parking arrangements. So we took a long hard look and decided we could usefully improve access from the car park to the hotel, particularly for ladies in high heels.

Embarking as we are on our best weddng seasons ever as one of Oxfordshire's leading country house hotel wedding venues, we decide that March was the right time. We planned to quickly install a path and some lighting across the car park. This is the view now  of the car park restored, toward the hotel.

On the 22nd March we dug a trench across the car park in which to lay cables. To our horror we discovered a natural spring flowing underground right down the line of our trench. not being "groundwater" experts, frantic consultations with local "experts" established the need for a drainage pipe to take the water flow some 50 metres to the duck pond.

What we thought would be a day or twos work, turns out to be a 7 day job using more heavy equipment than a major alteration to a motorway junction. Any way today is pretty much the last day and we can spread the pea shingle to make the car park look less like a dirt bikers hill track and more like the cared for area it previously was.

Rest assured as the light fades, we are now  back to normal. When you have your wedding here, the  already good parking facilities will have taken another step forward.

Bridal carriages with a difference are shown below!!!

The happy team - From L to R, Alastair Vaan, Daniel Breakspear, Steve MCartney.

What never ceases to amaze me is the flexibility shewn by my workforce. Daniel is one of our stockmen, and is here on Sunday becasue the work needs to be done for the week ahead. Helping him out for a few hours during their break between Sunday lunch and evening dinner service are Steve and Alastair from the kitchen team.

The Restaurant team who will largely look after you on your day is headed by Fabrice our Restaurant Manager. Extremely experienced in our our industy he has worked at Fallowfields since 2004.
His number two is Julie who joined us in 2005. Both from France, their core team comprises Peter, Damien, Eva, and other very capable staffs as required.

Kitchen –

The Kitchen is led by Alastair the Head Chef, with a team who is imbued in local produce, British produce first and foremost, and of course our own farm produce.
They produce many appetising dishes for our weddings and events, all of which are cooked fresh in house.

Along with the house-keeping staff, gardeners and farm staff, this is Team Fallowfields. A great team all working closely together to deliver a wonderful wedding for you.

One of the most satisfying aspects of my job, is receiving letters and cards after each wedding to say how pleased the Bride and Groom were with their 'special day'.

About the author

Introducing Lynn Trinder, Wedding & Event Manager at family run Fallowfields Country House Hotel. Lynn's role is to ensure that your wedding is unique. It is the most important day of your life, and we are ready to help you make the most if it.

"I have enjoyed working for Anthony and Peta Lloyd, the owners of Fallowfields since 1997. From 2000 my role has exclusively been weddings. Helping Brides and their families to create a really special day is a joy. With over 50 weddings a year, my experience will really help ease the pressure for you. As a Mother of a Bride myself, I also bring a unique perspective to the table. Most venues in Oxfordshire are known to me. To my mind Fallowfields is the greatest venue for weddings small or large.

The challenge of organising a really good wedding is the highlight of this job;every one is very special and I love to take the time and trouble to make them as personal as possible for each couple.

The team spirit at Fallowfields is second to none; many of the staff [like me] have worked here for years. Flexibility is our watchword and whatever you need, we will move heaven and earth to get it done wherever possible; from your own favourite dish to arriving on an elephant, we will do it if it is humanly possible [and legal].

I must mention the food - it is fabulous. Anthony's beloved farm provides vegetables, fruit and meat for the table. Rare breed livestock, sustainably produced passionately delivering to you great flavours".
