January - a busy month for enquires

by |Lynn Trinder 18. January 2010 00:43

Wednesday 6th January.

Numerous wedding enquiries this week, both from our open evening last Sunday and from our website.

Friday 8th January

This snow has kept everybody indoors but our grounds look lovely - it will be good to get back to normal.

A wintry scene - winter weddings in Oxfordshire can be so warm and romantic

A fine view of Fallowfields Country House Hotel from the grounds.

A delightful archway looking toward the ha-a in the distance

 Monday 11th January.

Super booking today for a large wedding for one hundred and forty guests next September, a good start to 2010.

Friday 15th January

Amazing number of wedding enquiries this week so extremely busy with meetings and emails. It makes the job very interesting and I hope we get some confirmed bookings over the next few weeks.
Our wedding bookings for 2010 are looking very good, in fact I think we may have our best year ever.

Monday 18th January

Now considering organising our annual Wedding Fayre on Sunday 18th April, 1pm – 5pm and therefore contacting all our recommended suppliers to see if they would like a stand. More on this to follow in coming weeks.
Our 2010 Wedding Fayre will be much bigger than last year as a marquee over the patio will accommodate more stands. A quick plug for its provider - Savoir Faire Marquees of High Wycombe.

Our first "wedding open evening" for 2010

by |Lynn Trinder 3. January 2010 01:37

Sunday 3rd January 2010.

A happy new year to everyone.

The above photo gives a great view of a table layout for an actual wedding.

Today, we held a wedding open evening at Fallowfields Country House Hotel. This was successful and quite a few couples who got engaged at Christmas came to view the hotel as a possible wedding venue.
The hotel restaurant was laid up as for a wedding reception and civil ceremony. It looked really welcoming with T-lights and lovely flowers from Ann Laing of Flower Craft. Proposals Bridal Studio of Witney, Oxfordshire, exhibited some gorgeous dresses. Alan from Regency Disco, Oxford, supplied some great background music whilst Paul Jeffries and colleague played superb jazz in the lounge. A stylish cake was supplied by 'Fancy That' of Wantage, Oxfordshire.

All of this gave couples and families a good chance to look at one of Oxfordshire's leading wedding venues more as it will be on their wedding day. All commented how welcoming and relaxing it looked and found it very useful. We like to organise these open evenings every few months and details of these will be found on our website.

On Sunday 18th April, we will host our annual Wedding Fayre at Fallowfields, from 1pm - 5pm. There will be many of our recommended local suppliers exhibiting so please do come and have a look. More details on our website, nearer the time.

About the author

Introducing Lynn Trinder, Wedding & Event Manager at family run Fallowfields Country House Hotel. Lynn's role is to ensure that your wedding is unique. It is the most important day of your life, and we are ready to help you make the most if it.

"I have enjoyed working for Anthony and Peta Lloyd, the owners of Fallowfields since 1997. From 2000 my role has exclusively been weddings. Helping Brides and their families to create a really special day is a joy. With over 50 weddings a year, my experience will really help ease the pressure for you. As a Mother of a Bride myself, I also bring a unique perspective to the table. Most venues in Oxfordshire are known to me. To my mind Fallowfields is the greatest venue for weddings small or large.

The challenge of organising a really good wedding is the highlight of this job;every one is very special and I love to take the time and trouble to make them as personal as possible for each couple.

The team spirit at Fallowfields is second to none; many of the staff [like me] have worked here for years. Flexibility is our watchword and whatever you need, we will move heaven and earth to get it done wherever possible; from your own favourite dish to arriving on an elephant, we will do it if it is humanly possible [and legal].

I must mention the food - it is fabulous. Anthony's beloved farm provides vegetables, fruit and meat for the table. Rare breed livestock, sustainably produced passionately delivering to you great flavours".
