Wedding transport...yawn or...Why not just take a look?

by |Lynn Trinder 31. July 2010 00:51

I love to see the variety of ways that our beautiful brides bring themselves to their weddings here. Here are photographs of just a few in the last few weeks alone.

This is one of the more usual modes of transport and, traditional - very special.

Perhaps slightly less traditional but delightful

Wedding open evening

A wonderful small wedding - Great comments.

by Lynn 7. July 2010 19:21

Hello!

I came to dress one of my brides at your beautiful Country House today (Esther Jones) and I thought I would just drop you a line to say how lovely I thought it was. The House is absolutely beautiful, the grounds are stunning and the 2 rooms that I saw were equally beautiful. I didn't get a chance to see the rest of the House, but I'm sure I will get to see the photographs, and Esther will be telling me all about it.

The staff that I met were very polite, welcoming and friendly and I will definately be recommending Fallowfields to any of my brides who are looking for a beautiful venue. I have dressed many brides in an assortment of venues (including my neice up in Yorkshire!) but Fallowfields just seemed a really comfortable place to be from the start. I hope the rest of the day went well for all concerned.

I hope you have a very busy and successful rest of the year,

Carol Greenway

Testimonial

A wonderful small wedding.

by Lynn 6. July 2010 19:17

Sunday 4th July was the turn for Esther & Paul’s wedding ceremony & reception for 38 close friends and family.

Esther looked lovely in a beautiful dress from Fantasia Bridal in Abingdon.

The two bridesmaids looked stunning in their black and white dresses.

Unfortunately, Esther’s beautiful shoes hurt her so she kicked them off and was the first bride at Fallowfields, to walk down the aisle barefoot!

She was however, much more comfortable and her wonderful smile proved it.

Tori played the harp during the ceremony, reception and the meal. It was so relaxing, you could listen to her play all day and this was also said by the registrar.

Tori is a gifted musician and so pleasant to have around.

The chair covers looked great with black bows: these were supplied by Ribbons & Bows.

The flowers were provided by Kim of Riche de Fleurs: they were absolutely stunning. The bride & bridesmaids carried white orchards, the men had a white orchid for their buttonholes.

After the ceremony, the restaurant was set up with a very long table for 38 guests.  With tall vases it looked wonderful.

The photographers were Brown & Co.  Darryl & Heather have photographed many times at Fallowfields and know the venue well.

Many photographs were taken and I am looking forward to seeing them.  I shall put some on the blog within the next week.

To finish the evening off, Esther and Paul booked the Paul Jeffries Jazz Trio, which they enjoyed very much.

I saw Esther and Paul the next morning, they were still smiling broadly. They were so happy with everything including the excellent service they received at Fallowfields.

We wish them well and hope to see them at Fallowfields within the near future. A great couple!

Wedding Day

A busy week-end at Fallowfields

by Lynn 5. July 2010 18:13

We had two lovely weddings last week-end.

Saturday 3rd July, Dr Katie Scott and Councillor Matthew Barber invited 120 family, friends and colleagues to their beautiful wedding reception at Fallowfields.

Katie and Matthew arrived in a very impressive Rolls Royce, Katie looked stunning in a beautiful ivory dress and Matthew looked very dapper in his top hat and tails.

Once again, the weather was fantastic and the happy couple and their guests could enjoy Fallowfields lovely grounds.

The colour theme was black and cream which looked amazing. The gorgeous flowers were cream, the chairs were dressed by Beautiful Creases with black sashes. Katie and Matthew were thrilled with how the restaurant and marquee looked, prepared for them and their guests to sit-down to a lovely meal.

The photographer was Steve of Squib Photography. He has promised some photos which will be added to the blog within the next few days.

We wish Katie & Matthew all the very best for the future and hope they have a wonderful honeymoon in Italy.

Special Birthday Celebrations

by Lynn 27. June 2010 20:04

Valerie celebrated a special birthday on Sunday 27th June at Fallowfields. She invited 70 family and friends to join her and her husband for a birthday lunch.

I was so pleased the weather was perfect, Valerie kept telling me she usually has rain on her birthday, so it was nice to prove her wrong on this occasion.

We have received excellent comments since on the hospitality, which is always nice.

Kay and Paul's big day

by Lynn 26. June 2010 19:45

Saturday 26th June was Kay and Paul's big day. It was a wonderful sunny day with 96 guests enjoying the celebrations in Fallowfields lovely grounds.

Kay looked fantastic in a beautiful dress from Proposals Bridal Studio in Witney and Paul looked great and very proud in his wedding attire.

Kay and Paul had a civil ceremony at Fallowfields as well as their reception.

The restaurant and marquee looked stunning with a gold theme throughout; the chair covers with gold bows were supplied by Isis Chair Covers.

Mario from Immage Photography took many photos and has promised me some which I will put on the blog when I receive them.

The wedding was most enjoyable to work on and it brought back many happy memories for me as it was the same day as one of my daughter's got married last year.

Where did that year go?

An enjoyable break

by Lynn 15. June 2010 19:34

I have been away on a very enjoyable holiday to Egypt, cruising the Nile, so hence the blogging came to a standstill, now back to reality.

While I was away, on June 3rd we had a lovely wedding for Rachel and Sam, they invited many family and friends to join them for their wedding celebrations at Fallowfields.

Photos to follow!

The storm before the calm - Preparations for Kristy Bowles wedding breakfast

by |Lynn Trinder 29. May 2010 11:12

2.35 Guest starting to arrive now and so the canapes are ready to go.

2.30 Getting close now to the arrival of the bride Kristy so the bubbly is being poured

Fabrice, Restaurant Manager at Fallowfields Country House Hotel

2.03 p.m. Fabrice, our Restaurant Manger here for 5 years [always a stickler for detail] gives a little last minute instruction to Julie [Our Maitre d'] of 4 years

Last minute instruction

2 p.m. The flowers have arrived and the tables are now set

A beautiful table setting

1 p.m. Message from florist - flowers are on their way - some of my people will miss their break to await the florist

1245 p.m. The tables are looking beautiful. We are all ready [our mis en place] is complete - however the florist has not yet delivered the flowers - not our problem but one feels somewhat helpess. An hour and a half to go, so let's keep our fingers crossed.

Well...it is 11 a.m. and hardly a storm but it is drizzling. The forecast promises the rain will have blown over by this afternoon - all well and good for Kristy and Marc who celebrate their wedding here in Oxfordshire later today. Part of the Fallowfields Country House Hotel team is here getting all set up for the day ahead.

The wedding breakfast being set up

Below we see the emerging trend to have colour coordinated sashes on the guest's wedding chairs. I love this as, it is not a particularly expensive option but does so much to set off the room.

Wedding chair sashes are all the rage

Champagne is of course an important part of any wedding everywhere, and below glasses are being polished and set up ready to receive their celebratory contents a bit later.

A pretty important part of any wedding day - the champagne

Our kitchen garden has had a very good asparagus season this year.

Local Oxfordshire asparagus

A pork roast is being planned for later this evening and so the kitchen is hard at work baking fresh baps during the morning. We do not like to buy these in as fresh baked is sooo much better, and says something about the way we care about food and the quality of everything we do here.

Baking our own baps for the hog roast this evening

About the author

Introducing Lynn Trinder, Wedding & Event Manager at family run Fallowfields Country House Hotel. Lynn's role is to ensure that your wedding is unique. It is the most important day of your life, and we are ready to help you make the most if it.

"I have enjoyed working for Anthony and Peta Lloyd, the owners of Fallowfields since 1997. From 2000 my role has exclusively been weddings. Helping Brides and their families to create a really special day is a joy. With over 50 weddings a year, my experience will really help ease the pressure for you. As a Mother of a Bride myself, I also bring a unique perspective to the table. Most venues in Oxfordshire are known to me. To my mind Fallowfields is the greatest venue for weddings small or large.

The challenge of organising a really good wedding is the highlight of this job;every one is very special and I love to take the time and trouble to make them as personal as possible for each couple.

The team spirit at Fallowfields is second to none; many of the staff [like me] have worked here for years. Flexibility is our watchword and whatever you need, we will move heaven and earth to get it done wherever possible; from your own favourite dish to arriving on an elephant, we will do it if it is humanly possible [and legal].

I must mention the food - it is fabulous. Anthony's beloved farm provides vegetables, fruit and meat for the table. Rare breed livestock, sustainably produced passionately delivering to you great flavours".
